Magpas

Magpas (pronounced: mag-pas) is a British medical charity that provides emergency medical services in the East of England. The organization was founded in 1971 and is based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

Etymology

The name "Magpas" is an acronym for the Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service, which reflects the organization's origins as a service run by general practitioners in the mid-Anglia region.

Services

Magpas provides a range of emergency medical services, including a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and a ground-based Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) service. The organization's medical teams are made up of highly trained paramedics and doctors, who are equipped to provide advanced medical care at the scene of an emergency.

Training

In addition to its emergency services, Magpas also provides training for medical professionals and members of the public. This includes courses in First Aid, Advanced Life Support, and Pre-Hospital Care.

Funding

As a charity, Magpas relies on donations from the public to fund its services. The organization also receives some funding from the National Health Service (NHS), but the majority of its income comes from fundraising events and donations.
