American attorney, politician, and lobbyist



Marc Racicot (born July 24, 1948) is an American attorney, politician, and lobbyist who served as the 21st Governor of Montana from 1993 to 2001. A member of the Republican Party, Racicot also served as the chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2002 to 2003.

Early life and education

Racicot was born in Thompson Falls, Montana. He attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Montana.

Legal career

After graduating from law school, Racicot served as a prosecutor in Missoula County, Montana. He later became the Attorney General of Montana, a position he held from 1989 to 1993.

Governor of Montana

Racicot was elected as the 21st Governor of Montana in 1992 and was re-elected in 1996. During his tenure, he focused on issues such as education reform, economic development, and healthcare. He was known for his bipartisan approach and ability to work with both parties.

Post-gubernatorial career

After leaving office, Racicot became a lobbyist and served as the chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2002 to 2003. He has also been involved in various business ventures and served on several corporate boards.

Personal life

Racicot is married to Theresa Racicot, and they have five children. He continues to reside in Montana.
