McGriddles

McGriddles (/məˈɡrɪdəlz/) is a type of breakfast sandwich sold by the international fast-food restaurant chain McDonald's. Introduced in 2003, McGriddles combines the elements of traditional breakfast meals into a single sandwich.

Etymology

The name "McGriddles" is a portmanteau of the McDonald's brand and 'griddle', the cooking apparatus used to prepare the sandwich. The 'Mc' prefix is commonly used in McDonald's menu items to denote the brand.

Description

McGriddles sandwiches consist of bacon, egg, and cheese, sausage, egg, and cheese, or bacon, egg, and cheese served between two small pancake-like rounds. The rounds are artificially maple-flavored and contain pockets of syrup. The sandwich is designed to be a portable, less messy version of a traditional breakfast meal.
