A motor vehicle (/ˈmoʊtər ˈviːɪkəl/), also known as an automobile or car, is a self-propelled vehicle designed primarily for transportation of people or goods along roads.

Etymology

The term "motor vehicle" is derived from the Latin motor (meaning "mover") and vehiculum (meaning "vehicle"). The term "automobile" is a combination of the Greek word auto (meaning "self") and the Latin mobilis (meaning "movable").

Types of Motor Vehicles
