Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga is a province in South Africa. It is located in the eastern part of the country and shares borders with the provinces of Limpopo, Gauteng, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the countries of Eswatini and Mozambique. The name "Mpumalanga" means "the place where the sun rises" in Zulu.
Geography
Mpumalanga covers an area of approximately 76,495 square kilometers. The province is divided into three main geographical regions: the Highveld, the Lowveld, and the Drakensberg Mountains. The Highveld is characterized by its high altitude and rolling grasslands, while the Lowveld is known for its subtropical climate and dense vegetation. The Drakensberg Mountains form a natural border with KwaZulu-Natal and are home to some of the highest peaks in South Africa.
Climate
The climate in Mpumalanga varies significantly between the different regions. The Highveld experiences cold winters and mild summers, while the Lowveld has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The Drakensberg Mountains receive significant rainfall, especially during the summer months.

Mpumalanga's economy is diverse, with key sectors including agriculture, mining, and tourism. The province is a major producer of coal, which is mined in the Highveld region. Other important minerals include gold, platinum, and chromium.
