National Geographic (American TV channel) is a American pay television channel that is owned by National Geographic Partners, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (73%) and the National Geographic Society (27%). History

National Geographic Channel launched in the United States on January 7, 2001, though its history traces back to the National Geographic Society's film and television production efforts in the late 20th century.
