Ned Lamont is an American businessman and politician serving as the 89th Governor of Connecticut, a position he has held since January 9, 2019. Ned Lamont was born on January 3, 1954, in Washington, D.C. He is a descendant of Thomas W. Lamont, a partner of the J.P. Morgan & Co. banking firm. Lamont graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1976. He furthered his education by earning a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management in 1980.

Before entering politics, Lamont had a successful career in the telecommunications industry. In 1984, he founded Lamont Digital Systems, which provided cable television services to colleges and universities. The company, known for its Campus Televideo service, became a leader in its niche market.
