Oaks, Pennsylvania

Oaks, Pennsylvania is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The community owes its name to a large stand of oak trees that once stood in the area.

History

Oaks was originally a small mill town on the Schuylkill River. The community grew with the construction of the Perkiomen Railroad in the mid-19th century. Today, Oaks is known for its mix of residential, commercial, and recreational areas.

Geography

Oaks is located at the confluence of the Perkiomen Creek and the Schuylkill River. It is part of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, and is approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Philadelphia.

Economy

The economy of Oaks is diverse, with a mix of local businesses and national chains. The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, one of the largest exhibition centers in the region, is located in Oaks and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
