Organon & Co. was founded in 1923 in Oss, the Netherlands, by Dr. Saal van Zwanenberg. The company initially focused on the production of insulin and vitamin products. In 2007, Organon & Co. was acquired by Schering-Plough, a US-based pharmaceutical company. Following the acquisition, Organon & Co. became a part of Schering-Plough's global pharmaceutical business. In 2009, Schering-Plough merged with Merck & Co., another US-based pharmaceutical company, and Organon & Co. became a part of the merged entity.
