Rockdale County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 96,088. The county seat is Conyers. Rockdale County is included in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
History
Rockdale County was created on October 18, 1870, from parts of Newton and Henry counties. It was named for the Rockdale Baptist Church, which in turn was named for the granite strata that underlies the county.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 132 square miles (340 km²), of which 130 square miles (340 km²) is land and 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²) (1.6%) is water.

As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 96,088 people, 33,733 households, and 24,157 families residing in the county. The population density was 739 people per square mile (285/km²).
Government and politics
Rockdale County is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners, which includes a chairman and two commissioners. The county is part of the 4th congressional district of Georgia.
Education
The county is served by the Rockdale County Public Schools system, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools.
