Ron Goldman
Ronald Lyle Goldman (July 2, 1968 – June 12, 1994) was an American waiter and friend of Nicole Brown Simpson who was murdered along with her at her home in Los Angeles, California. The murder led to the highly publicized O. J. Simpson murder case, in which Nicole's ex-husband, O. J. Simpson, was tried and acquitted for both murders.
Early Life
Ron Goldman was born in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He was the son of Fred Goldman and Sharon Rufo. After his parents divorced, he lived with his father and younger sister, Kim Goldman. Goldman attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. He later attended Illinois State University for one semester before moving to Southern California.
Career
In California, Goldman worked various jobs, including as a tennis instructor, model, and waiter. At the time of his death, he was working as a waiter at the restaurant Mezzaluna Trattoria in Brentwood, Los Angeles. He was also studying to become an emergency medical technician.
Relationship with Nicole Brown Simpson
Goldman met Nicole Brown Simpson at Mezzaluna, where she was a frequent customer. They became friends, and Goldman was known to visit her home often. On the night of June 12, 1994, Goldman went to Nicole's home to return a pair of sunglasses that her mother had left at the restaurant.
Murder and Aftermath
On the night of June 12, 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were found murdered outside her condominium in Brentwood. The subsequent investigation and trial of O. J. Simpson, known as the O. J. Simpson murder case, became one of the most publicized criminal trials in American history. Simpson was acquitted of the murders in a criminal trial but was later found liable for their deaths in a civil trial.
Legacy
Ron Goldman's family has been active in keeping his memory alive and advocating for victims' rights. His father, Fred Goldman, has been particularly vocal in the media and has written a book about the case.
