History
The idea of a Rugby League World Cup was first proposed in the 1930s, but it wasn't until 1954 that the first tournament was held in France. The inaugural competition featured four teams: Australia, France, Great Britain, and New Zealand. The tournament was won by Great Britain, who defeated France in the final.
