Saskatoon
Saskatoon is the largest city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It straddles a bend in the South Saskatchewan River in the central region of the province. History
The area now known as Saskatoon was first inhabited by First Nations and Métis people. The name "Saskatoon" comes from the Cree word for a local berry, misâskwatômina. The city was founded in 1882 by the Temperance Colonization Society, who wished to escape the liquor trade in that era.
