Sharon Runner
American politician
Sharon Runner (May 17, 1954 – July 14, 2016) was an American politician who served as a member of the California State Senate and the California State Assembly. She was a member of the Republican Party.
Early life and education
Sharon Runner was born in Los Angeles, California. She attended Antelope Valley College.
Political career
Sharon Runner began her political career in the California State Assembly, representing the 36th district from December 6, 2002, to November 30, 2008. She succeeded her husband, George Runner, in this position. After her term in the Assembly, she was elected to the California State Senate, representing the 21st district from February 18, 2011, to November 30, 2012. She again succeeded her husband in this role.
During her tenure, she focused on issues such as public safety, education, and economic development. She was known for her work on Jessica's Law, which aimed to increase penalties for sex offenders.
Personal life
Sharon Runner was married to George Runner, who also served in the California State Legislature. They had two children. Sharon Runner passed away on July 14, 2016, in Lancaster, California.
Legacy
Sharon Runner is remembered for her dedication to public service and her contributions to the state of California. Her work on Jessica's Law has had a lasting impact on the state's legal system.
