Habitat

Moss campion is found in a variety of alpine and arctic environments, including rocky slopes, tundra, and meadows. It prefers well-drained, sandy or gravelly soils and is often found in areas with little vegetation. Its cushion-like form minimizes heat loss and maximizes heat absorption from the sun, creating a microclimate that is slightly warmer than the surrounding air.
