Sumneytown, Pennsylvania

Sumneytown, Pennsylvania is a small unincorporated community located in Marlborough Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, approximately 35 miles north of Philadelphia.

History

Sumneytown was named after its founder, William Sumney, who settled in the area in the early 18th century. The community has a rich history, with many of its buildings and structures dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The Sumneytown Historic District is a notable area that showcases the community's historical architecture.

Geography

Sumneytown is located at the intersection of Route 63 and Route 29, near the Unami Creek. The community is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, characteristic of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

Demographics

As an unincorporated community, Sumneytown does not have its own population statistics. However, it is part of Marlborough Township, which had a population of approximately 3,178 as of the 2010 United States Census.

Education

Sumneytown is served by the Upper Perkiomen School District. Students attend Marlborough Elementary School, Upper Perkiomen Middle School, and Upper Perkiomen High School.

Transportation

Sumneytown is accessible by Pennsylvania Route 63 and Pennsylvania Route 29. The community is also served by the SEPTA bus route 204, which provides service to the nearby town of Lansdale.
