History

Sweetbay Supermarket was launched in November 2004 in Largo and was a rebranding of Kash n' Karry, a Tampa Bay area based supermarket chain. The rebranding brought an overhaul of the chain's offerings and image, aiming to attract customers who would usually shop at upscale markets.

In 2013, Delhaize Group announced that it would sell all Sweetbay stores to BI-LO LLC, which also owns the Winn-Dixie supermarket chain. The sale was completed in 2014, and all Sweetbay stores were rebranded as Winn-Dixie.
