Tavalisse - (pronounced) (TA-vah-lees) A drug used to treat thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count) in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) that has not improved with other treatments. ITP is a condition in which platelets are destroyed by the immune system. Tavalisse is also being studied to treat other conditions and cancers. It blocks an enzyme called Syk, which can help prevent the immune system from destroying platelets. Tavalisse is a type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Also called fostamatinib disodium, R788 sodium and Syk kinase inhibitor R-935788
