Tullamore Dew
Tullamore D.E.W.
Tullamore D.E.W. is a brand of Irish whiskey produced by William Grant & Sons. The whiskey is named after the town of Tullamore, located in County Offaly, Ireland. The "D.E.W." in the name stands for Daniel E. Williams, a general manager and later owner of the original distillery.
History
The Tullamore distillery was established in 1829. Daniel E. Williams joined the distillery in the late 19th century and became the driving force behind its success. Under his leadership, the distillery adopted the slogan "Give Every Man His Dew," which became synonymous with the brand.
In the mid-20th century, the original distillery closed, and production was moved to other locations. However, in 2014, a new distillery was opened in Tullamore, bringing production back to its roots.
Production
Tullamore D.E.W. is a triple-distilled whiskey, which contributes to its smoothness. It is a blend of all three types of Irish whiskey: pot still, malt, and grain whiskey. The whiskey is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, which impart a rich and complex flavor profile.
