UNESCO (pronounced /juːˈnɛskoʊ/), an acronym for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) aimed at promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, the sciences, and culture.
