History
The United Breweries Group was founded in 1915 by Thomas Leishman. Initially, the company focused on brewing beer, but over the years, it expanded into various sectors, including aviation, real estate, and fertilizers. The group gained significant prominence under the leadership of Vijay Mallya, who took over as chairman in 1983.
Operations
The group's core business is the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages. United Breweries is the largest producer of beer in India, with a market share of over 50%. The company's flagship brand, Kingfisher, is one of the most recognized beer brands in India and has a significant presence in international markets.
