VAPCO

VAPCO (pronounced: /ˈvæpkoʊ/), an acronym for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Coordinating Organization, is a medical term used to refer to a group or organization that coordinates efforts to prevent and manage Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP).

Etymology

The term VAPCO is derived from the combination of the words Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia and Coordinating Organization. Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia is a type of lung infection that occurs in people who are on mechanical ventilation breathing machines in hospitals. Coordinating Organization refers to a group or body that organizes and manages the prevention and treatment of this condition.
