West Point, Pennsylvania
West Point, Pennsylvania is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is part of the Lansdale Borough in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The community is named after the military academy in West Point, New York due to its geographical resemblance.
History
West Point was originally a farming community before it became a residential area. The community has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. The West Point School is a notable historical site in the area.
Geography
West Point is located at 40°13′58″N 75°16′24″W. The CDP has a total area of 1.6 square miles, all of it land. It is located in the Delaware Valley region of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Demographics
As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 2,684 people residing in West Point. The racial makeup of the CDP was predominantly White, with a small percentage of African American, Asian, and other races.
Education
West Point is served by the North Penn School District. The district operates one elementary school in West Point, the West Point Elementary School. Secondary students attend Pennbrook Middle School and North Penn High School.
Transportation
West Point is served by SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown Line at the Pennbrook station. The community is also accessible by several major roads, including Pennsylvania Route 63 and Pennsylvania Route 363.

- John Hartranft, Medal of Honor recipient and 17th Governor of Pennsylvania, was born in West Point.
- James Tracy Hale, former professional football player, was born and raised in West Point.
