AmeriHealth

AmeriHealth (pronounced: /ˈæməriˌhɛlθ/) is a health insurance provider in the United States. It is a subsidiary of Independence Blue Cross, the largest health insurer in Philadelphia, and offers a range of health insurance products and administrative services to individuals and groups in New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

Etymology

The name "AmeriHealth" is a portmanteau of "America" and "Health", reflecting the company's aim to provide quality health care to Americans.

History

AmeriHealth was founded in 1995 as a joint venture between Independence Blue Cross and New Jersey Blue Cross Blue Shield. It was initially established to serve the health insurance needs of residents in New Jersey, but has since expanded its services to Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Products and Services

AmeriHealth offers a variety of health insurance plans, including HMO, PPO, and traditional indemnity insurance. It also provides Medicare and Medicaid services, as well as prescription drug plans and behavioral health programs.
