Chandpur Medical College (pronunciation: Chāndpur Medical College) is a medical educational institution located in Chandpur District, Bangladesh. It was established in 2019 under the affiliation of the University of Chittagong.

Etymology

The name "Chandpur" is derived from the Bengali words "Chand" (moon) and "pur" (city), symbolizing a city as beautiful as the moon. The medical college is named after the district it is located in.

History

Chandpur Medical College was established in 2019 to address the need for more medical professionals in the Chandpur District and the surrounding areas. The college is affiliated with the University of Chittagong, one of the largest and oldest universities in Bangladesh.

Courses and Departments

Chandpur Medical College offers a five-year MBBS degree program. The college has several departments including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics.

Admission

Admission to Chandpur Medical College is highly competitive and is based on the candidate's performance in the Medical Admission Test conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
