David A. Sinclair

David Andrew Sinclair (Template:IPA-en) is a biologist and professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School. He is best known for his research on aging and lifespan extension.

Etymology

The name "David" is of Hebrew origin, meaning "beloved". "Sinclair" is a Scottish surname that originates from the clan Sinclair, who lived in the region of Caithness in northern Scotland.

Biography

David A. Sinclair was born in Australia in 1969. He received his BSc and PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of New South Wales. Sinclair moved to the United States in 1995 for postdoctoral research at MIT under the guidance of Leonard Guarente.

Research

Sinclair's research primarily focuses on the role of sirtuins in disease and aging. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of how genes regulate aging and how to slow it down. His work has led to the development of new drugs and treatments for age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cancer.
