Drexel University College of Medicine (pronounced: Drex-el Uni-ver-si-ty Col-lege of Med-i-cine) is a prestigious medical school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of Drexel University, a private research university.

Etymology

The name "Drexel" originates from the founder of the university, Anthony J. Drexel, a Philadelphia financier and philanthropist. The College of Medicine was established in 2002 when Drexel University acquired MCP Hahnemann University.

History

The Drexel University College of Medicine has a rich history dating back to 1848, making it one of the oldest medical schools in the United States. It was originally established as the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania, and later became known as Hahnemann Medical College. In 2002, Drexel University acquired MCP Hahnemann University, forming the Drexel University College of Medicine.
