Emergency Management (pronunciation: /ɪˈmɜːdʒənsi mænɪdʒmənt/) is the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all Humanitarian aspects of emergencies, in particular preparedness, response, and recovery in order to lessen the impact of disasters.

Etymology

The term "Emergency Management" is derived from the words "emergency" and "management". The word "emergency" comes from the Latin "emergere" meaning "to rise up or come forth", while "management" is derived from the Italian "maneggiare" meaning "to handle".
