McKesson Corporation (pronounced: məˈkɛsən) is an American company distributing pharmaceuticals and providing health information technology, medical supplies, and care management tools. The company had revenues of $231.1 billion in 2020.

Etymology

The company is named after its founder, John McKesson, who established the company in 1833, along with Charles Olcott. The company was initially named Olcott & McKesson.

History

John McKesson and Charles Olcott founded the company in New York City to import and sell therapeutic drugs and chemicals wholesale. Their first wholesale drug warehouse was located in Southern Manhattan.
