Palm Harbor, Florida (pronunciation: /pɑːm ˈhɑːrbər/) is a census-designated place located in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the community had a population of 64,301.

Etymology

The name "Palm Harbor" is believed to have originated from the abundance of palm trees that the area was once known for. However, the exact origin of the name is not known.

Geography

Palm Harbor is located on the west coast of Florida, along the Gulf of Mexico. It is approximately 24 miles northwest of Tampa, Florida.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, Palm Harbor had a population of 64,301. The racial makeup of the community was 92.9% White, 1.0% African American, 0.1% Native American, 3.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.9% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.6% of the population.

Palm Harbor is served by the Pinellas County Schools district. It is home to several elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as a university.
