Rotate (Medicine)

Rotate (/roʊˈteɪt/; from Latin rotatus, past participle of rotare, "to turn round") is a term used in various medical contexts, generally referring to the action of turning around an axis or center.

In Orthopedics

In Orthopedics, rotation refers to the movement of a bone around its long axis. It is a common term used to describe the movements of the joints, particularly the hip joint and the shoulder joint. There are two types of rotation in orthopedics: internal rotation and external rotation.

  • Internal rotation (Medial rotation): It is the rotation of the limb towards the center of the body.
  • External rotation (Lateral rotation): It is the rotation of the limb away from the center of the body.

In Radiology
