Presidential Nomination
President Benjamin Harrison faced significant opposition within his party, particularly from supporters of former President James G. Blaine. Despite this, Harrison secured the nomination on the first ballot, receiving 535.17 votes to Blaine's 182.83.

Vice Presidential Nomination

Platform
The platform adopted at the convention endorsed the protective tariff, called for the maintenance of the gold standard, and supported civil service reform. It also included planks on immigration, veterans' pensions, and the regulation of trusts.
