5,6-MeO-MiPT

5,6-MeO-MiPT is a psychedelic and hallucinogenic drug, used recreationally for its psychoactive effects. It is a member of the tryptamine family, which also includes other psychedelic substances such as psilocybin and DMT.

Chemistry

5,6-MeO-MiPT, or 5,6-Dimethoxy-N-isopropyl-N-methyltryptamine, is a synthetic compound of the tryptamine class. Tryptamines share a core structure comprised of a bicylic indole heterocycle attached at R3 to an amino group via an ethyl side chain. 5,6-MeO-MiPT is substituted at R5 and R6 of its indole heterocycle with two methoxy (MeO) functional groups CH3O−. It also contains two methyl groups CH3- bound to the terminal amine RN of the tryptamine backbone.

Pharmacology

The pharmacological mechanisms of 5,6-MeO-MiPT are not fully understood. However, it is believed to work primarily by acting as an agonist for the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor, which is involved in the regulation of mood, anxiety, and perception. It may also interact with other serotonin and dopamine receptors, contributing to its complex psychoactive effects.

Effects

The effects of 5,6-MeO-MiPT can vary greatly depending on the dose, individual physiology, and set and setting. Common effects reported by users include visual hallucinations, enhanced sensory perception, euphoria, and altered thought patterns. Some users also report experiencing negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and uncomfortable physical sensations.
