Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos
Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos (often abbreviated as AB Vassilopoulos) is a prominent supermarket chain in Greece. It is a subsidiary of the multinational retail group Ahold Delhaize. The company operates a network of stores across the country, offering a wide range of products including groceries, fresh produce, household items, and more.
History
Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos was founded in 1939 by Gerassimos Vassilopoulos and his brother Charalambos Vassilopoulos. The first store was established in Athens, and it quickly gained popularity due to its high-quality products and customer service. Over the years, the company expanded its operations, opening new stores in various locations across Greece.
In 1992, Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos became part of the Delhaize Group, a Belgian international food retailer. This acquisition allowed the company to further expand its market presence and improve its supply chain and product offerings. In 2016, the Delhaize Group merged with the Dutch retailer Ahold, forming the Ahold Delhaize group, which Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos is currently a part of.
