History

The Cleveland Browns were founded in 1946 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown, after whom the team is named. The Browns were initially part of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), where they dominated by winning all four championships from 1946 to 1949. When the AAFC dissolved in 1949, the Browns joined the NFL.

Early Success

Under the leadership of Paul Brown, the team continued its success in the NFL, winning the league championship in 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964. The Browns were known for their innovative strategies and strong roster, which included legendary players such as Otto Graham, Marion Motley, and Jim Brown.

The Modern Era

The Browns have experienced various periods of success and struggle since the 1960s. The team faced significant challenges in the late 1990s when owner Art Modell moved the franchise to Baltimore, where it became the Baltimore Ravens. However, the Browns were reactivated as an expansion team in 1999, retaining their history, records, and colors.

Stadium

The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, located on the shores of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland. The stadium opened in 1999 and has a seating capacity of over 67,000.
