The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland.
History
The Baltimore Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, then owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. As part of a settlement between the league and the city of Cleveland, Modell was required to leave the Browns' name, colors, and history in Cleveland for a replacement team and was allowed to take his players and personnel to Baltimore, where the team was named the Ravens via a fan contest, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, "The Raven."
Achievements
The Ravens have been one of the more successful franchises since their inception, winning two Super Bowl championships: Super Bowl XXXV in 2000 and Super Bowl XLVII in 2012. They have also won two AFC Championships and six division titles.
