Colorado State University
Colorado State University (CSU) is a public university located in Fort Collins, Colorado, United States. It is the flagship university of the Colorado State University System. The university was founded in 1870 as the Colorado Agricultural College and has a long history of research and education in agriculture, engineering, and veterinary medicine. Today, CSU offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, including the liberal arts, sciences, business, and engineering.
History
Colorado State University was established in 1870, five years before Colorado attained statehood, under the Morrill Act of 1862. The act provided federal lands to states to finance the creation of colleges specializing in agriculture and the mechanic arts. Initially focused on agriculture, the curriculum expanded over the years to include a wide range of academic disciplines.
Campus
The main campus is located in Fort Collins, at the base of the Rocky Mountains. It features a mix of modern and historic buildings, green spaces, and state-of-the-art research facilities. Notable facilities include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the Engineering Research Center, and the University Center for the Arts.
Academic Programs
CSU offers more than 150 programs of study across eight colleges and fifty-five departments. Among its highly ranked programs are veterinary medicine, atmospheric science, and agricultural sciences. Research
As a land-grant institution, research is a core component of CSU's mission. The university is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity". Student Life
CSU's student body consists of over 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and more than 80 countries. The university offers a vibrant campus life with over 300 student organizations, including cultural clubs, sports teams, and professional societies. Athletics are an integral part of the campus culture, with the CSU Rams competing in the NCAA Division I Mountain West Conference.

CSU has produced a number of notable alumni who have made significant contributions in various fields, including politics, science, business, and the arts. Notable alumni include astronaut Vance D. Brand, former Governor of Colorado Bill Ritter, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Philip K. Dick.
