Disorders (/dɪsˈɔːrdərz/) are a category of health conditions characterized by abnormal or disturbed functioning of the body or mind. The term is often used broadly to include both physical and mental health conditions.

Etymology

The term "disorder" originates from the Middle English "disordre", which means a lack of regular arrangement or methodical operation. It is derived from the Old French "desordre" and ultimately from the Latin "dis-" (apart, asunder) and "ordo" (order).
