Hemodialysis product

Hemodialysis product is a medical device used in the treatment of kidney disease. It is a type of dialysis that uses a machine to filter waste, salt, and extra water from the blood. This helps to keep a balance of electrolytes in the body. Hemodialysis is often used when the kidneys are not functioning properly, such as in cases of chronic kidney disease or kidney failure.

Overview

Hemodialysis product is a type of renal replacement therapy that is used to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function due to renal failure. It is a life-support treatment and does not treat any kidney diseases. Hemodialysis may be used for patients who have become ill and have acute kidney failure (temporary loss of kidney function), or for fairly stable patients who have permanently lost kidney function (stage 5 chronic kidney disease).

Procedure

During hemodialysis, blood is removed from the body and filtered through a man-made membrane called a dialyzer, or artificial kidney, and then the filtered blood is returned to the body. The average person has about 10 to 12 pints of blood; during dialysis only one pint (about a soda can's worth) is outside of the body at a time. A hemodialysis treatment usually takes about four hours and is performed three times per week.

Complications

While hemodialysis treatment can be life-saving, it does come with potential complications. These can include low blood pressure, anemia, bone diseases, high blood pressure, depression, nerve damage, infection or clotting at the access site, and heart disease.
