KLF6

KLF6 (Kruppel Like Factor 6) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KLF6 gene. It is a member of the Kruppel-like factor family of transcription factors.

Function

KLF6 is a zinc finger transcription factor that has been implicated in many biological processes, including cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and differentiation. It is also involved in the regulation of gene expression in response to different cellular stresses.

Clinical significance

Mutations in the KLF6 gene have been associated with a variety of human diseases, including prostate cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and glioblastoma. In addition, reduced expression of KLF6 has been observed in several types of cancer, suggesting that it may function as a tumor suppressor.
