Kanye West

Kanye Omari West (born June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative musicians of the 21st century. West's music spans a wide range of styles, including hip hop, soul, baroque pop, electro, indie rock, synth-pop, industrial, and gospel.

Early Life

Kanye West was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. His father, Ray West, was a former Black Panther and one of the first black photojournalists at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His mother, Donda West, was a professor of English at Clark Atlanta University and the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University before retiring to serve as West's manager.

Career

Music

West gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing hit singles for artists such as Jay-Z, Ludacris, and Alicia Keys. Intent on pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he released his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004 to critical and commercial success. He later founded the record label GOOD Music.

West's subsequent albums, including Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and 808s & Heartbreak (2008), continued to receive critical acclaim and commercial success. His fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), is often cited as his magnum opus and one of the greatest albums of all time.

Fashion

In addition to his music career, West has made significant contributions to the fashion industry. He launched his own clothing line, Yeezy, in collaboration with Adidas. The Yeezy brand has been highly influential and successful, known for its minimalist aesthetic and high-profile releases.

Personal Life

West has been a prominent figure in the media for his outspoken views and controversial actions. He has been open about his struggles with mental health, including his diagnosis of bipolar disorder. West was married to Kim Kardashian from 2014 to 2021, and they have four children together.
