Mercer County, Pennsylvania is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 110,652. The county seat is Mercer. The county was created on March 12, 1800, from parts of Allegheny and Lycoming counties and named after physician Brigadier General Hugh Mercer, who was a close friend to General George Washington.
Geography
Mercer County is situated in the northwestern part of Pennsylvania. According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 683 square miles (1,770 km²), of which 673 square miles (1,740 km²) is land and 10 square miles (26 km²) (1.5%) is water.

Demographics
As of the 2020 census, there were 110,652 people, 45,000 households, and 29,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 164 people per square mile (63/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 93.5% White, 3.5% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, and 2.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.

Mercer County is governed by a board of three commissioners. The county is part of Pennsylvania's 16th congressional district.
