Nemo & Friends SeaRider
Nemo & Friends SeaRider is an attraction located in Tokyo DisneySea at the Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan. It is a submarine simulator ride that takes guests on an underwater adventure alongside popular characters from the Pixar film Finding Nemo and its sequel Finding Dory. The attraction opened on May 12, 2017, replacing the former StormRider simulator. It is situated in the Port Discovery area of the park, which is themed after a futuristic marina.
Attraction Overview
Nemo & Friends SeaRider is designed to immerse guests in the underwater world of the popular Pixar movies. The attraction utilizes a 5-minute simulator experience, where guests board a "submarine" that shrinks to the size of a fish. This innovative concept allows visitors to join Nemo, Dory, and other characters as they navigate through vibrant coral reefs, dodge dangerous jellyfish, and explore the vast ocean.
The ride vehicle, referred to as the SeaRider, is a large motion simulator that can accommodate multiple guests at once. The interior of the SeaRider is equipped with a large screen that displays the animated ocean world, creating a 360-degree immersive experience. The simulator uses advanced technology to mimic the movements of a submarine exploring the ocean depths, including dives, turns, and encounters with various sea creatures.
Development and Opening
The development of Nemo & Friends SeaRider was announced by the Oriental Land Company, which operates Tokyo Disney Resort, as part of an expansion plan for Tokyo DisneySea. The attraction was designed to refresh the Port Discovery area and offer a new experience that would appeal to families and fans of the Finding Nemo and Finding Dory films.
The design and construction of the attraction involved collaboration between the Oriental Land Company, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Pixar Animation Studios to ensure that the ride accurately captured the essence of the movies while providing an engaging and entertaining experience for guests.
Reception
Since its opening, Nemo & Friends SeaRider has been well-received by visitors to Tokyo DisneySea. Guests appreciate the attraction's ability to bring the underwater world of Nemo and Dory to life in a unique and interactive way. The ride's family-friendly nature and the popularity of the Finding Nemo franchise have made it a must-see attraction within the park.
