It was founded in 1915 as the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC), becoming the Pac-8 in 1968 when it merged with the Athletic Association of Western Universities, then the Pac-10 with the addition of the University of Arizona and Arizona State University in 1978, and finally the Pac-12 in 2011 with the inclusion of the University of Colorado and University of Utah. The conference's headquarters are located in San Francisco, California.
