The Simpsons Ride
The Simpsons Ride is a motion simulator ride located at the Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood theme parks. The ride is based on the popular animated television series The Simpsons and features the show's characters and settings.
History
The Simpsons Ride was officially announced on April 24, 2007, and opened to the public on May 15, 2008, at Universal Studios Florida and on May 19, 2008, at Universal Studios Hollywood. The ride replaced the Back to the Future: The Ride attractions at both parks.
Ride Experience
The ride is a motion simulator that takes guests on a wild adventure through Krustyland, a fictional amusement park created by Krusty the Clown. The ride features a combination of physical sets, animatronics, and a large dome-shaped IMAX screen that provides a 3D experience without the need for 3D glasses.
Queue
The queue area is themed as the entrance to Krustyland, with various posters and videos featuring characters from The Simpsons. Guests are entertained with clips from the show and original animations created specifically for the ride.
Pre-show
Before boarding the ride, guests watch a pre-show video where Krusty the Clown introduces the new attraction at Krustyland. However, Sideshow Bob appears and reveals his plan to destroy the park and the Simpson family.
Main Ride
Once on the ride, guests join the Simpson family on a roller coaster adventure through Krustyland. The ride features various scenes and characters from the show, including Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, and Maggie Simpson. The ride's storyline involves Sideshow Bob's attempts to sabotage the ride and the Simpson family's efforts to escape his clutches.
Technical Details
The ride system is a motion simulator that uses hydraulic lifts to move the ride vehicles in sync with the on-screen action. The IMAX dome screen provides a 360-degree view, enhancing the immersive experience. The ride vehicles are designed to accommodate up to eight guests per vehicle.
Reception
The Simpsons Ride has been well-received by both fans of the show and theme park enthusiasts. It has been praised for its humor, animation quality, and the seamless integration of the show's characters and settings into the ride experience.
