Tony Robbins (born Anthony J. Mahavoric; February 29, 1960) is an American author, coach, motivational speaker, and philanthropist. Early Life
Tony Robbins was born in North Hollywood, California, and grew up in a household facing financial difficulties. His early life was marked by hardship and a lack of stability, which he often cites as the driving force behind his passion for self-improvement and helping others. Robbins left home at the age of 17 and did not attend college. Instead, he began his career promoting seminars for motivational speaker Jim Rohn.
Career
Robbins' career began to take off in the early 1980s when he started conducting his own seminars. He developed a program called "Unleash the Power Within," where he introduced his concept of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the firewalk, a confidence-building activity where participants walk barefoot over hot coals. Robbins' seminars and workshops have grown in popularity over the years, attracting thousands of participants worldwide.
In addition to his live events, Robbins has authored several best-selling books, including Unlimited Power (1986) and Awaken the Giant Within (1991), which have been translated into dozens of languages. His work focuses on harnessing the power of the mind, setting and achieving goals, and overcoming fears and limitations.
Robbins has also ventured into the business world, founding or co-founding several companies in industries ranging from entertainment to health and wellness. He is a partner in a venture capital firm, Robbins Research International, which invests in various sectors, including technology and hospitality.
Philanthropy
Robbins is also known for his philanthropic efforts. Through his non-profit, the Tony Robbins Foundation, he aims to make a positive impact on the lives of the youth, seniors, the homeless, and the imprisoned population. The foundation supports various programs and initiatives designed to empower individuals and communities.
