Warren County is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,387. The county seat is Warren. The county was created on October 1, 1819, from parts of Allegheny and Lycoming counties and named for General Joseph Warren, a hero of the American Revolutionary War.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 898 square miles (2,326 km²), of which 884 square miles (2,289 km²) is land and 14 square miles (36 km²) (1.6%) is water. The county is in the Allegheny Plateau region and is known for its scenic landscapes, including the Allegheny National Forest.

As of the 2020 census, there were 38,387 people, 16,420 households, and 10,452 families residing in the county. The population density was 43.4 people per square mile (16.8/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 97.2% White, 0.7% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.4% Asian, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.0% of the population.

Government and politics

Warren County is governed by a board of three county commissioners. The county is part of Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district.

Warren County is served by the Warren County School District, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. The county is also home to the Warren County Career Center, which provides vocational and technical education.
