ZNF219

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

ZNF219 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ZNF219 gene. The ZNF219 protein is a member of the zinc finger protein family, which are regulatory proteins known to bind DNA and influence gene expression.

Function

ZNF219 is a nuclear protein that functions as a transcriptional repressor. It is known to interact with NCOR1, a protein that assists in the repression of gene transcription. This interaction suggests that ZNF219 may play a role in the regulation of gene expression.

Clinical significance

While the exact role of ZNF219 in human health and disease is not fully understood, it is believed to be involved in several biological processes. Mutations in the ZNF219 gene have been associated with various diseases, although further research is needed to fully understand these associations.
