OPCS-4 (pronounced: "O-P-C-S-four"), an acronym for Office of Population Censuses and Surveys Classification of Interventions and Procedures, version 4, is a system of codes used by the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom to classify surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.

Etymology

The term "OPCS-4" is derived from the name of the office that originally developed the system, the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS), and the version number, 4. The OPCS was a former department of the United Kingdom government responsible for the collection and publication of statistics related to the population and public health.
