Pseudophenmetrazine

Pseudophenmetrazine (pronunciation: soo-doh-fen-met-ra-zeen) is a stimulant compound of the morpholine class. It is closely related to phenmetrazine, a once-popular stimulant substance that was clinically used as an anorectic (appetite suppressant).

Etymology

The term "Pseudophenmetrazine" is derived from the Greek word "pseudo", meaning false, and "phenmetrazine", the name of the related stimulant compound. The prefix "pseudo" is used to indicate that while the compound is similar to phenmetrazine, it is not the same.

Pharmacology

Pseudophenmetrazine is a psychostimulant compound that is structurally related to phenmetrazine. It is believed to function as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI), thereby increasing the levels of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. However, the exact mechanism of action of pseudophenmetrazine is not fully understood.
